长期以来地震学主要从事对于地震(主要是地震波)的观测和分析。地震预报工作的开展则要求对地震成因有比较深入的了解,并且对与地震发生有重要制约作用的各种因素的重要性能加以估计。
Seismology has long been engaged in the observation and analysis of earthquakes (mainly seismic waves). Earthquake prediction work requires a more in-depth understanding of the causes of earthquakes and estimates of the importance of various factors that have important constraints on earthquakes.
