经过革命洗涤后,再加上红色革命光辉事迹的熏陶,山东半岛已从一个普通的地名上升为一个承载了革命精神的胜地,并由此而诞生的主题旅游活动的目的是组织旅游者对历史事迹、历史人物的缅怀,并以此达到了革命传统的继承与发扬。大力推广以“红色旅游”为主题的旅游活动既可推进爱国主义和革命传统教育、弘扬和培育民族精神,另一方面对于促进地方旅游业的繁荣、推动地区经济发展具有重要意义。目前,山东半岛地区红色旅游线路开发滞后,其重要作用没有得到很好地发挥。山东半岛红色旅游线路的开发研究对山东半岛地区政治、经济、文化的发展具有重要意义。
