中国通商银行(简称通商银行),为近代中国首家(华资)商业银行,以招商股份制募资,是在晚清重臣盛宣怀的鼎力督办下所创建。盛宣怀生于道光二十四年(1844年),字杏荪,江苏武进县人,秀才出身。同治十二年(1873年)任轮船招商会办,光绪六年(1880年)创办电报局,光绪十九年兴办华盛纺织总厂光绪二十二年十月任全国铁路督办大臣(时接办汉阳铁厂)。成为集船运、电讯、铁路、矿业等实业于一体的洋务运动显要人物。他深刻认识到金融业对国
