More than 20 years ago, the melody of young composer Guo Wenjing’s first opera “Madman’s Diary” started in Amsterdam and shook the world with a highly personalized musical language. The first time on the international opera scene was the stirring of Chinese opera sound. Guo Wenjing became the biggest focus of Dutch Arts Festival that year. In a few short years later, Madman’s Diary appeared in eight different countries around the world. It produced a record no one has ever reached, including overseas Chinese composers.
