Times Riverside, a vibrant land of rivers and lakes, the youngest city in Hangzhou, was approved by the State Council on December 12, 1996. It is located on the south bank of Qiantang and faces the famous attractions such as Liuhe Tower across the river. The total area is 70 square kilometers and the population 116,000. It plans to build 21.8 square kilometers of land for construction in 2010 with a planned population of 230,000. There are two cultural and educational districts, a high-tech industrial development zone and two public buildings in the district.
