艰辛创业的昨天苏州铜材厂始建于1964年。建厂初期,企业条件极差,一缺生产资金,二无技术人员,仅有几间简陋的厂房,一些冶炼上设备,从回收工业铜垃圾、加工巴氏合金和生铜梗起家,此后,一步一个脚印地扩展到轧制黑铁皮、生产机制铜棒和铜板带,形成了一定的生产能力。1972年,企业上了穿孔机、水压机,开始了铜管生产;同时新建了第二代铜皮车间,扩大了板带生产能力。19(?)年,苏铜仅用4个多月时间,集中优势兵力打歼灭战,胜利完成了被苏州市列为“重点会战项目”的年产4000吨电解铜车
