西伯利亚,从乌拉尔到蒙古边界,这是一片幅员辽阔、充满无限希望的地域。用M·B·罗蒙诺索夫自由奔放的语言说,应当用她的富饶资源“增添俄罗斯的威力”。西伯利亚的历史早已吸引了国内外研究者的注意。今天,正当西伯利亚大地进行规模空前的社会主义改造之时,史学工作者面临的重大使命就是研究西伯利亚的过去;研究那些居住在西伯利亚的各民族的历史;反映苏联人民为争取新的工业化的西伯利亚进行的斗争。在这项工作的进行当中,考古学方面的研究具有重要的学术意义和社会政治意义。考古学家们有责任对那些曾经或现正居住在苏联东方辽阔大地上的各民族历史做出首要的论断。具体地说就是考古学家们应当充当“时代联系”的表达者,应当指明这里世世代代和几千纪以来复杂历史过程的共同点与特殊性,
