India Today: The Millionth Betrayal of Today book is almost an oral history of Indians, and Naipaul makes no secret of his role as a listener in the book, a man who records the voices of Indians. The theme of this occasion is from India, as it is perceived in his childhood in Trinidad, to verify that control is a unitary entity in India. What he sees after a closer look is how it breaks down into jigsaws of religion, caste and class. For Naipaul this diversity is where India’s strength lies. This essay will take “India: Today, One Million Rebellion” as its research text, and discusses it from the angle of narratology.
