影片《逆光》写了八十年代青年人对人生的不同信念,叙述了他们在生活、爱情问题上的苦恼和欢乐、向往和追求。创作者锐意求新,触及了现实生活中一些十分敏感的问题,有一定的深度。但是影片所要昭示的哲理似有值得探讨之处。廖星明和夏茵茵是作者着力塑造的理想人物:一个是从愚昧中走出来,发奋用功、努力奋斗的典型;一个是纯真、热情,甘于抛弃舒适环境愿意在生活的道路上“远征”的榜样。他们的精神固然可嘉、行为固然高尚,但却不象是现实生活中的真实人物,而只是作者意念中的一对从“世俗”偏见中脱颖而出的英雄。特别是夏茵茵,她本处于社会上层,享受着现代化的物质文明,为什么一定要她下嫁棚户区每天去受烟薰煤烤,自己倒马桶?即使结了婚,她也完全可以留在原来的家里,而为什么又不呢?也许不这样显不出她的高尚情操。可是她这样做的必然性在哪里?过去在极“左”路线下长期限制人民对物质生活的追求,要人们相信那种“精神决定一切”的“科学”,如今人们对此早已深恶痛绝,因此很自然地会对夏茵茵
