The Lowveld Tobacco Growers Association (LTGA) has developed a program of integrated pest management (IPM) that replaces the chemical protection of crops and the IPM program covers both seedbed and field applications. For the first time in 2003, we achieved our goal of implementing the IPM Program on seed beds in nine commercial seed beds in all tobacco growing areas. The results showed that root system of tobacco seedlings grown in IPM-managed beds and the chemical program of standard development and root and shoot development.
