Between June 1997 and October 1998, 14 kinds of elements in 280 whole blood samples of 4 common newborns were detected and compared with normal full-term, 100-birth-born newborns. The results showed that: (1) The hyperbilirubinemia group caused by G-6PD deficiency was lower than that of the normal group. (2) Compared with the normal control group, the levels of Zn, Fe and Ca in the male and female were lower than those in the normal group. The contents of Cu, Mg and Co in male and female were higher than those in the normal group. (3) Scleroderma group and normal group control, male and female Zn, Fe were lower than the normal group; male and female Mg and Cu were higher than the normal group. (4) The full-term small sample group and the normal group control, male, female Fe, Zn, Co were lower than the normal group, the rest without exception.
