在近代教育史上,国语(文)教科书选录外国翻译作品是一个具有标志意义的事件。其产生的根本原因在于近代社会对西方文化的逐步容纳。反映在教育领域,促成该事件的主要原因就表现为:外国翻译作品在白话、思想主题和写作技巧等方面所具备的特点,能够满足近代社会对国语(文)学科的新要求。一方面,近代社会变革对国语(文)学科提出了新要求,即“学习普通语言文字,养成发表思想之能力,兼以启发智德”等,而传统作品的文言词汇、句法、主题、写作技巧等无法准确表达近代出现的新事物和新思想;另一方面,外国翻译作品的新词汇、新句法、先进思想、写作技巧等特点,使其能够满足近代社会对国语(文)学科的新要求。于是,外国翻译作品得以顺利入选国语(文)教科书。
In the history of modern education, the selection of foreign translated works by the Chinese textbooks is a landmark event. The fundamental reason for its emergence lies in the gradual accommodation of Western culture in modern society.
