The Bcl-2 gene is a control gene for programmed cell death and prolongs cell life by inhibiting apoptosis. Such genes have been called the third type of genes after cancer promoters and tumor suppressor genes. This article mainly discusses the role of Bcl-2 gene in tumorigenesis and development and its relationship with Epstein-Barr virus, Myc gene and p53 gene.
