From 2015 to 2016, the author went to the University of Missouri School of Journalism to do research on this subject with the support of the CSC. In June 2016, at the invitation of the International Association for Communication, I went to Fukuoka, Japan to attend the conference and make keynote speeches at the conference. I conducted a short-term study tour in Japan. During this period, I paid special attention to the relevant developments in the press industry in the two countries and gained some intuition. The United States, Japan and the industry generally agree that the newspaper industry does face a serious crisis, but this crisis should not be overstated.
