INTRODUCTION The various shapes of continental margins associated with convergence, collisions and stitching have been recognized as important factors controlling the tectonic evolution of the orogenic belt and the Nekraton structure (Deway and Burke, 1974; Thomas, 1977, Kluth and Coney , 1981a). In this paper, the author reviews the relationship between the convergence of the continental margin and the structural history of inner craton in the context of Kluth and Coney (1981a, 1981b) and Goldstein (1981). First, the description of the shape of the continental margin must have standard terminology. From the rupture of the continental margin to the evolution of the orogenic belt takes two periods.
