Objective: To investigate the expression of CD44s and CD44v6 in colorectal carcinoma and its clinical significance. Methods: Envision TM immunohistochemical method was used to analyze the expression of CD44s and CD44v6 in 57 cases of colorectal cancer. Results: The positive rates of CD44s and CD44v6 in colorectal cancer were 66.7% and 63.2% respectively. The expression rates of CD44s and CD44v6 were closely related to the degree of tumor cell differentiation and tumor stage (P <0.05). The expression rate of CD44v6 was also significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis (P <0.01). The Kaplan-Meier survival curves and Log-rank test showed that the 5-year survival rates of patients with negative and positive CD44s were 78.95% and 55.26%, respectively. There was no significant difference between the two groups (P = 0.0625) The 5-year survival rates of negative and positive patients were 80.95% and 52.78%, respectively. The difference between the two groups was significant (P = 0.0146). COX regression multivariate survival analysis showed that CD44v6 had an impact on survival (P <0.05). CONCLUSION: CD44s and CD44v6 proteins play an important role in the invasion and metastasis of colorectal cancer, and can be used as a complementary biological index to determine the potential of invasion and metastasis of colorectal cancer. CD44v6 can be used as an independent prognostic indicator for colorectal cancer.
