围场满族蒙古族自治县在“三北”防护林体系建设二期工程总体规划和首都周围绿化工程总体规划的宏观控制下,从1987年开始设立重点工程,打破行政界限,按山系、流域进行综合治理。截止到1993年底,已竣工工程25个,面积31.77万亩,在建工程32个。近年来,我县多次荣获全国造林绿化先进单位称号,连续六年在省工程造林质量评比中获第一名。
