On February 13, Li Tuchun, founder of Chinese local dairy company Taizinai was released with innocence after 15-month imprisonment in the name of “illegal absorption of public deposit”,“suspect of appropriating corporate capital” and“professional embezzlement”.
As a famous Chinese entrepreneur, Li Tuchun once spent ten years in the state-owned enterprises and was once praised as the Pioneer of Reform with which he was received by the national leaders. Later he founded the brand of Taizinai, which became the constitutor of the industrial standard of the Chinese lactobacillus beverage industry and turned over the traditional dairy industry.
However, in 2008, Taizinai encountered the financial crisis and the foreign banks lending loans to the company began to urge it to pay back the loans. Li Tuchun had no way but to ask for help from the government of Zhuzhou, where it was located. In 2009, the Zhuzhou government founded Hi-Tech Dairy Company to manage Taizinai through trustee- ship. However, Li Tuchun found that this company in which the government invested 100 million yuan had great risk: Wen Dibo, board chairman of HiTech Dairy Company personally transferred 20 million yuan and another 50 million yuan was not put into production. Li Tuchun once reminded the government officials of Zhuzhou of the potential risk five times and hoped that the management of Taizinai could be given to the original executive team of the company. But his suggestions were ignored.
Li Tuchun felt that Taizinai was “seized” by HiTech Dairy Company. In March 2010 the startup team of Taizinai went northward to found the Xianshan Dairy. Li Tuchun also went with them as the chief consultant. On June 12, 2010, Li Tuchun was detained in Beijing in the name of illegal absorption of public deposits and then was put behind the bar. After being imprisoned for long and thorny 15 months, Li Tuchun was finally out of the prison. He said he wanted to have a rest during which he could accompany his family while waiting for his body to recover.
