The more recent period of the Chinese legend than the Huang and Yan periods can be represented by the legends about Yao, Shun and Yu, and can therefore be called the “Yao, Shun and Yu periods.” This period has approached the establishment of the Xia Dynasty as documented in the literature. Its exact upper limit is also not very clear, but its lower limit is set on the eve of the establishment of the Xia Dynasty. Yu legend is the father of the first monarch in the Xia Dynasty.
