Objective: To study the role of cell adhesion molecules in the proliferation, invasion and metastasis of tumor cells, of which CD44 molecules are of more concern. Methods: Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of CD44 variant McAb (CD44v6 monoclonal antibody) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA monoclonal antibody) in invasive cervical carcinoma and metastatic carcinoma. The results showed that both of them were over-expressed in cervical carcinogenesis and lymph node metastasis, the positive rates were 789% and 842% respectively. Results: CD44v6 was closely related to tumor metastasis. The primary cervical cancer with lymph node metastasis accompanied with significantly increased cell proliferation activity. Conclusion: The synergistic detection of both can be used as biological indicators of tumor metastasis.
