铜鼓,顾名思意是用铜制作的鼓。但对广西、云南100面铜鼓进行分析的结果表明,铜鼓并不都是用单一的金属铜制作的。绝大多数铜鼓都还含有锡、铅。故铜鼓从合金成分上分类可有纯铜鼓、锡青铜鼓及铅、锡青铜鼓三种类型。不同时代、不同地区、不同民族的铜鼓在合金成分上是有差异的。早期的铜鼓,多分布在滇西,被称为万家坝型,年代约相当于中原地区的春秋、战国之际。这类铜鼓形态比较原始,与当时烧饭的铜釜(锅)十分
