The relationship between renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) and the onset of essential hypertension has been reported. Many reports have been published at home and abroad [1~3]. In order to understand the level of RAAS in the elderly, we investigated the elderly (ages 60-74) of a neighborhood committee in the Jiuxianqiao monitoring area. The results are reported below. The source of the data is 3,339 cases (1,644 males and 1,729 females) of residents of a neighborhood committee.
