A typical flue gas waste heat recovery unit adds a section of the flue to a furnace consisting of a series of tubes and a blower that blows the flue gas through the tube to gain heat from the tube. The new flue gas waste heat recovery unit (heat sink) produced by Sears differs in that it uses water mist to absorb heat and then sends the hot water to a tube and tube heat exchanger to preheat the air flowing from the interior to the kiln. The more heat the kiln generates, the greater the potential for savings.
