在即将跨入21世纪的前夕,适逢建国50周年,北京——这一古老而年青的东方大都会,又迎来了1999年国际建筑界的奥林匹克盛会——国际建筑师协会第20届大会。大会给中外建筑师留下最多思考的是:回眸100年历史,认清未来责任。正如组委会主席俞正声部长所言:围绕本次大会主题“21世纪的建筑学”,把它分成6个专题,组织国内有关教育、设计、科研单位提出研究报告,届时与来自世界各国的建筑师进行交流探讨,在总结20世纪建筑学的经验教训的基础上,谋求共识,协调行动,以期在21世纪能够把我们的星球——人类的家园——营建得更加美好宜人。其中第二工作是组织出版大型系列丛书《20世纪世界建筑精
On the eve of the coming 21st century, it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
