The new zinc plant of Kazakhstan Copper Group plans to start production at the end of April 2003. The company’s press secretary, Fu Nikolaev, said that the plant will produce commercial zinc in the fall of 2003, and it is expected that it will reach full design production capacity by the end of the year. The establishment of the new factory will increase the group’s annual revenue by 100 million U.S. dollars. According to the company’s statistics, in 2002, the group’s revenue reached 800 million U.S. dollars and the net income was 300 million U.S. dollars. The company will also increase sales by selling zinc, copper and rare metal associated products.
