小麦幼穗发育的进程直接影响着产量的高低,温度又是控制幼穗发育的极其重要因素。在小麦生产中我们可以通过整调播种期来控制幼穗发育进程,使其向着有利于丰产的方向发展。但由于目前对所选用品种的幼穗发育各时期对温度要求了解不够,往往由于播期不当,致使小麦幼穗发育处在不适宜的温度条件下进行,有时因幼穗发育过快而遭受冻害,有时因播期过晚使幼穗发育推迟,穗粒数减少,穗重下降,因而影响产量的提高。为此,几年来我们研究了河南几个主要当家品种通过春化阶段进入幼穗分化期对温度的要求,以及在幼穗发育各时期对温度的反应,为提高穗粒重、适期播种提供依据。
