As the economic globalization develops and science advances, the exchange between China and the West becomes increasingly frequent. On the basis of previous studies on face theory and face saving strategy, this research analyzes the problems of face in Chinese and western communication, the differences of face views and values between them and discusses the strategies to save face of the Chinese and westerners as well as during Chinese and western cross-cultural communication, reducing the cultural conflicts resulted from face and improving cross-cultural communication.
