1988年12月7日上午10时41分(莫斯科时间),在前苏联境内发生了震级为里氏8.l级的强烈地震,一阵巨大的震动摇撼了位于俄罗斯南部的亚美尼亚地区。地震中心为距前苏联亚美尼亚共和国首府埃里温155公里的列宁纳坎市(该市当时有人口约29万)。此次地震带来了灾难性的严重损失,所造成的严重破坏遍及约1.03万平方千米内的乡村地区。官方公布的死亡总人数为5.5万;而据其他方面估计,死亡人数接近10万,50万个家庭无家可归,人们只得在露天生火取暖。
On December 7, 1988, at 10:41 a.m. (Moscow time), a massive 8.l magnitude earthquake hit the territory of the former Soviet Union. A tremendous shake shook the area in Armenia, which is located in southern Russia. The center of the earthquake is Leninakan, 155 kilometers from Yerevan, the former Soviet Union (the then population of the city was about 290,000). The earthquake caused serious and catastrophic losses, causing serious damage in about 10,300 square kilometers of rural areas. The official death toll was 55,000; while others estimated that the death toll was close to 100,000 and 500,000 families were homeless, leaving only people in the open air to heat their homes.
