有人认为继透纳之后,瓦尔特·西柯特(Walter Sickert)是英国最杰出的画家。 西柯特在青年时代,就是惠斯勒的门徒,德加的学生。可以说,他在许多方面都是这两位令人敬佩的艺术大师的继承者。西柯特才华出众、头脑清楚、聪明好学,并不满足于仅仅作为一个画家的职能,于是把自己的绘画天才同写作热情结合起来,发表过许多艺术评论,字里行间充满着富于启发性的趣谈和颇有教益的见解。因此,本文完全有可能引用画家的原话,来对他的绘画方法作一简要的介绍。
Some people think that following the Turner, Walter Sickert is one of the most prominent painters in Britain. Cicort in his youth, is Whistler’s disciple, Degas students.
