2002年4月,北京大学与 Avaya 公司签署协议,合作构建北大校园无线局域网络,该工程已于2002年6月底顺利完成。这是国内首个校园无线局域网项目,该项目的实施标志着北京大学成为中国首家拥有校园无线局域网络的高校。北京大学现有校园网分为三级建设:核心层、分布层和接入层。核心千兆交换机采取冗余配制,做到任何时候都不发生网络中断现象;与楼宇接入层采用1G 连接,使二级节点高速连接核心网络,提供第三层网络交换能力,并通过访问控制保证网络的安全性以及对重要应用的服务质量保障。随着北京大学对外交流日趋频繁,各种学术活动越来越多,校内师生的移动办公设备也越来越多,这些都对现有的校园网提出了更多更高的要求。北京大学决定以现有千兆宽带校园网为依托,在
