乌海是内蒙古一个新兴的工业城市。二十多年来,随着工业的发展,人口的增加,以蔬菜水果为主的农业生产也有了较大的发展。近几年来,葡萄种植业发展的比较快。特别是1985年乌海市委、市政府决定建设葡萄商品生产基地以来,葡萄生产进入了一个新的发展阶段,仅1986和1987两年,就种植葡萄4000多亩,全市葡萄的种植面积由600亩增加到5000余亩。
