The use of simple uncorrected plastic lenses gives a virtual image of the flying scene in the flight simulator. The avatar shows the simulator driver a real impression, as the elephant seems to be a real distance from the simulator. Many pilots made landings and takeoff tests in flight simulators to objectively evaluate virtual images. This display includes a Schmitter color projector, rear projection screen and a large-diameter long focal length plastic lens. Another review of virtual images using a color television monitor and two plano-convex plastic lenses was also reviewed, but no comments from official pilots. Various lens parameters were studied to determine their effect on the flight scene. The conclusion is: Under certain conditions, simple lenses are available to use virtual reality simulations of the flying scene with a Schmidt projection system or a television monitor.
