近几年来,冬小麦唐山6898在喀什地区种植面积迅速扩大,有力地促进了本区的小麦生产,但也给农业生产带来了一些新问题,主要是:(1)唐山6898为早熟品种,开春后需水早,拔节孕穗阶段需水量多,使本区春旱缺水的矛盾更加突出;(2)本区玉米复播面积近年有扩大趋势,秋温不足年份,玉米熟期拖后,致使约1/3的冬小麦播种质量差;(3)本区春旱严重,夏洪有余,早熟品种种得太多,不能充分利用夏供优势.1982年,疏勒县和喀什市将唐山6898春种获得成功,为解决上述问题找到了好办法.
