Objective Investigating the influence of Chinese traditional medicine Tongmaijiangzhi(TMJZ) on cardiovascular disease due to atherosclerosis(AS) in quails. Methods There were four experimental groups. One is normal control, fed with chow food without treatment; the other three were all hyperlipidemia animal models in which one group as hyperlipidemia control, two treatment groups treated with TMJZ and Lovatatin respectively. Blood lipids and plasma vWF were measured and aorta was pathologically checked in all groups. Results There was positive correlation between plasma vWF and total serum cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and triglyceride. The development of atherosclerosis was blocked along with the low level of plasma vWF in treatment groups. Conclusion JZTM has good effects on reducing blood lipids and vWF , thus could prevent and cure AS and thrombosis cardiovascular disease due to it.
