华西边疆研究学会成立于1922年,是一个以“促进中国西部边疆和西南各省的科学研究”为宗旨的学术研究机构,至1950年结束。华西边疆研究学会组织了大量的社会调查、学术讲座等活动,创办了《华西边疆研究学会杂志》这本英文杂志,对华西的人文科学和自然科学进行了广泛研究,为当代的西南边疆研究提供了宝贵的文献资料。本文依据四川大学历史系教授、博物馆顾问成恩元先生生前整理的资料编辑而成,主要介绍华西边疆研究学会的组织结构、会员组成、学术活动、杂志编辑、与哈佛燕京学社等研究机构的关系,以及作者本人在学会的经历等,标题沿用作者原定的《华西边疆研究学会始末记》。
Founded in 1922, Huaxi Frontier Research Society is an academic institution aiming at “promoting scientific research in China’s western frontier and southwestern provinces” and ending it in 1950. Huaxi Frontier Research Society organized a large number of social surveys, academic lectures and other activities, founded the “West China Border Research Society Magazine,” the English magazine, Huaxi Humane and natural sciences conducted a wide range of research for the contemporary Southwest Frontier Research Valuable literature. This article is based on the information edited by Mr. Cheng En-yuan, a professor of history at Sichuan University and a consultant to the museum. It mainly introduces the organizational structure, membership composition, academic activities, magazine editors of Huaxi Frontier Research Society and other institutions such as Harvard Yenching Institute And the author’s own experience in learning, etc., the title follows the author’s original “Western Frontier Society of Research”.
