广东台山是中国著名侨乡之一,被誉为“内陆侨都”和“中国第一侨乡”。旅居国外的台山籍华侨、华人超过130万人,比台山市本地人口的93万还多出40余万人,因此有海内海外“两个台山”的说法台山籍的华侨、华人分布在世界五大洲92个国家和地区,尤其以美洲(北美)最多。在暗无天日的旧时代,灾难深重的苦岁月,兵荒马乱,水患天灾,台山儿女背井离乡,漂洋过海,经历了早期漂流欧洲、中期转徙东南亚、最终遍布世界的艰苦历程,充分体现了台山人坚韧顽强、不屈不挠、聪明机智等优良品质和精神,在中国华侨史上写下光辉篇章。11月11日,世界梅氏宗亲第十二届恳亲大会在广东台山隆重举行。400多位来自美国、新加坡、马来西亚、巴哈马、印尼和我国香港、台湾地区等地的梅氏宗亲代表参加大会。
Taishan, Guangdong is one of China’s famous hometown of overseas Chinese, known as “Inland Overseas Chinese” and “China’s first overseas hometown.” There are more than 1.3 million overseas Chinese living in Taishan overseas, more than 1.3 million Chinese, and more than 400,000 more than the 930,000 in Taishan’s native population. Therefore, there are overseas Chinese and overseas Taishan overseas Chinese and overseas Chinese 92 countries and regions on five continents, especially the Americas (North America). In the dark, old times, the bitter years of hardships, chaos in the plains, floods and natural disasters, Taishan children were left home and traveled across the sea, experienced the early drifting Europe, Southeast Asia, the mid-term and eventually all over the world’s arduous journey, fully reflects the tough Taishan Tenacious, indomitable, clever wit and other good quality and spirit, wrote a brilliant chapter in the history of overseas Chinese in China. On November 11, the 12th Pro-Prince Assembly of the World’s Patriarchate was held ceremoniously in Taishan, Guangdong. More than 400 representatives from the United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Bahamas, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Hong Kong and Taiwan, attended the conference.
