东、西方的龙纹样都是人类祈求解释超自然现象而产生的视觉语言。古人面对不可理解的生死、痛苦、幸福、灾难等现象,用形象构成视觉语言消灾祈福。龙纹样由于民族、地区、时代、习惯不同,形态、表现方式和含义相异,是某一民族的哲学、思想、文化、审美意识的反映。以下分别介绍东、西方的龙纹样图案,试图就它们的含义,作相互对照比较、归纳整理。
