尚有不同理解的表达法属于这类的结构有三种:(1)“inerease(或其他相当动词)+by+倍数(n-下同)”,(2)“倍数+形容词(或副词)比较级(表示增加意义的)”及(3)“倍数+形容词(或副词)比较级(表示减少意义的)”。现作分别探讨。(一)“inerease by 5 times”许多人认为这个短语应理解为“增加五倍”,因为倍数前用了介词by。例如:①This year the value of our industrial out-put has increased by twice as compared withthat of last year.今年我国工业产值比去年增加了两倍。(凌渭民作:“科技英语中数量的译法”,1982
(1) “inerease (or other equivalent verb) + by + multiple (n-same)”, (2) “multiple + adjective (or adverb) (Meaning increased meaning) ”and (3)“ multiple + adjectives (or adverbs) comparative (meaning less meaningful) ”. Now separately discussed. (A) “inerease by 5 times” Many people think this phrase should be understood as “fivefold increase”, because the preposition by the preposition by.
