2008年11月1日7时18分,一位百岁长者溘然长逝于上海华东医院,他便是我国著名遗传学家、我国现代遗传科学的奠基人谈家桢教授。他是中国科学院院士、中国民主同盟中央名誉主席。在我担任上海市科协常委的时候,跟谈家桢教授有过许多交往。我们曾经一起前往北京出席中国科协的会议,同住在北京京西宾馆。在那里,他接受我的采访,详细地谈及自己一生的经历和波折,他还送我在美国留学时的珍贵照片……
At 7:18 on November 1, 2008, a 100-year-old passed away at Shanghai Huadong Hospital. He is Professor Tan Jiazhen, the famous geneticist in China and the founder of modern Chinese genetic science. He is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the honorary chairman of the Central Democratic League of China. When I was a standing member of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, I had many contacts with Professor Tan Jiazhen.
