母亲种的萝卜,总是又大又圆又好吃。我问母亲:为什么您种的萝卜就是不一样呢?母亲笑:因为我几十年都用一种选拔的方式种萝卜——“萝卜选秀”。夏末撒下萝卜籽,到了农历十月,土壤里已结出了大小不—的萝卜头。母亲的萝卜选秀开始了,她拔出萝卜,留下个儿大的、样子标准的,作为这场萝卜秀的正式选手。母亲又把萝卜选手底端带须的那小部分皮肉切去,留下纹路紧致水分充足的,而纹路稀疏肉质干巴的,通通拿去喂猪,这样,萝卜秀复选完毕。接着,母亲又把它们重新种到土壤里。
