Less than 1 year of age (infancy) Non-typhoid salmonella infections have a higher prevalence than any other age. Infected infants can have a variety of clinical manifestations, from normal bowel movements to severe blood in the stool, bacteremia and persistent infections. Previous observations suggest that the incidence of bacteremia in this age group is not high (4-13%) for non-epidemic infections, but the consequences for infection factors, clinical relationships, and Salmonella bacteremia are poorly understood . The authors analyzed the isolation of Salmonella from faeces from January 1, 1976 to December 31, 1978
