(一)前言 在川南黔北一带志留系之上二迭系之下有一组砂岩、页岩及含有煤、铁的地层,1938年熊永先在调查古乡蔺、珙县等地地质时将此组地层分出,并定名为铜矿溪层,后来又根据其中所含植物化石定其时代为石炭二迭纪。 以后不少作者在论述川黔一带地质时将此组含煤、铁地层沿用铜矿溪层一名。后来岳希新、杨敬之、穆恩之等曾将鄂西的马鞍煤系和川南铜矿溪层进行对比。1956年卢衍豪根据汉南梁山层中所合的海相化石及植物化石,认为梁山层可与Stg lidophgllum volzi或Mi-ellina landia层相当,暂属二迭纪底部,并与鄂西马鞍煤系及川黔铜矿溪层相对比。但由于铜矿溪层在各地岩性不一,对比困难,因此其时代问题并未获得解决。
