牛顿《自然哲学的数学原理》一书初版序言写于1686年5月8日,出版时已经是1687年7月间的事情了。1987年正好是这部具有划时代意义的科学巨著问世三百周年。我在大学是学理论物理的,后来一直从事马克思主义理论工作,因此我认为在纪念中我应该写一篇理论性的文章,说一些自己的看法。于是我就以《教材·学校制度和社会进步》为题写了一篇不长的文章,发表在1990年6月9日的《科技日报》上。文章发表后我觉得言犹未尽,一直想再写一篇比较长一点的文章,好把自己
Newton's First Edition of the Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy was written on May 8, 1686, at the time of publication in July 1687. In 1987 it was exactly the 300th anniversary of this epoch-making scientific monograph. I studied physics at university and later worked on the theory of Marxism. Therefore, I think I should write a theoretical essay in my memory to say something about myself. So I wrote a short article entitled “Textbook, School System and Social Progress,” published in the “Science and Technology Daily” on June 9, 1990.
