A new study shows that identical twins have longer lives. A study by U.S. researchers compared the differences in longevity of identical and fraternal twins with the general population. The results showed that, in every age group, identical twins have higher survival rates. Studies show that the average life expectancy of identical twins increases, a finding that is similar to the longer life expectancy of married people as compared to single and divorced people, and researchers believe that friendship may be the key to longevity. David Sharrow and James Anderson at the University of Washington analyzed data on twin registrations in Denmark and analyzed the life expectancy of Danish cohorts and fraternal twins born between 1870 and 1900. The reason for choosing this time frame is because researchers think all participants are deceased and are more accurately researched. They compare data to human mortality rates
