汕头大学由香港潮籍知名人士李嘉诚先生投资兴建,于1987年基本建成。校园占地面积50公顷,建筑面积13万3000平方米。总体规划的分区既考虑到近期的使用要求和环境、景观的完整,也考虑到远期发展的可能性和合理性。教学区与其他各分区和部门之间由舒展的园林绿化相联系。单体设计和建筑群体的规划设计简洁朴素,清新宜人,具有显著的亚热带地区建筑特色。规划设计者刘荣广先生1970年毕业于香港大学建筑系,毕业后即进入伍振民建筑师事务所从事建筑设
Shantou University was built and invested by Mr. Li Ka-shing, a well-known person from Chaoshan, Hong Kong. It was basically completed in 1987. The campus covers an area of 50 hectares and a building area of 133,000 square meters. The zoning of the master plan not only takes into consideration the recent requirements for use and the integrity of the environment and landscape, but also takes into consideration the possibility and rationality of long-term development. The teaching area is connected with other sub-divisions and departments by a stretch of landscaping. The monomer design and the architectural design of the building group are simple and plain, fresh and pleasant, with distinctive subtropical architectural features. Mr. Liu Rongguang, a planner, graduated from the Department of Architecture of the University of Hong Kong in 1970. After graduation, he entered the Wu Zhenmin Architects’ Office.
