1954年广西第一个甘蔗专业研究单位——广西糖厂甘蔗试验站成立,将原柳州农业试验场保育的83个甘蔗原始材料转移到贵县试验场。1956年中央食品工业部广西甘蔗试验站在南宁建成后(广西甘蔗研究所前身),改贵县甘蔗试验场为分站,甘蔗品种资源工作是在1954年的基础上发展起来的,1956年保育国内外甘蔗品种资源184份,其中印度材料27份、爪哇14份、夏威夷5份、美国运河点11份、菲律宾5份、台湾省57份、广东甘蔗试验场自育材料24
In 1954, Guangxi’s first sugar cane specialized research unit - Guangxi sugar factory sugarcane test station was set up. 83 raw materials of sugar cane preserved in former Liuzhou Agricultural Experimental Station were transferred to the Guixian experimental site. After the completion of Nanning (Guangxi Sugarcane Research Institute predecessor), the sugar cane test station in Gaigui County was sub-station in 1956, and the work of sugarcane variety resources was developed on the basis of 1954. In 1956, There are 184 domestic and international sugarcane varieties resources, of which 27 are Indian materials, 14 are Java, 5 are Hawaii, 11 are American canals, 5 are from Philippines, 57 are from Taiwan, and 24 are from Guangdong Sugarcane Experimental Site.
