Using the observed data of seismic deformation and no-deform deformation around the D7.7 Alaska Fault-Fault in Alaska in 2002, we test the hypothesis that the slip should be accompanied by chatter. Clumping occurs more spontaneously than slow spontaneous and has been observed in a wider tectonic setting. Therefore, the presence or absence of chatter with slip can provide new clues about the generation of chatter. We also looked for evidence of precursor flutter, which is supposed to accelerate sliding to rupture. Our search did not vibrate 5 days prior to the Denali Fault Earthquake and several times in the following 3 months. This negative result, along with a series of other observations, may be explained by the penetration of the rupture below the assumed latching zone into the friction transition zone. Although not unique, this explanation corroborates the model of a complete extension of the earthquake rupture of the previous giant thrust and transitional faults to the transition zone.
