The Global Broadcast Service (GBS) system is a military intelligence satellite distribution system developed by the U.S. military based on the commercial digital television satellite live broadcasting technology introduced in the early 1990s and based on the analysis and lessons learned from the Gulf War. The Global Broadcasting System uses a high-speed, high-capacity one-way transmission that can provide various intelligence information for command and control agencies and tactical units of the U.S. military service. The deployment of this system by the U.S. military is not intended to replace or replace existing military satellite communications systems, but rather to relieve the pressure of traditional satellite systems to bidirectional communications through its unique unidirectional broadcast capabilities. The Global Broadcasting System, managed by the U.S. Air Force, has become an important part of the U.S. military satellite communications architecture and has played an irreplaceable role in several wars.
