胰岛β细胞功能损伤和或数量减少是导致糖尿病的主要原因,直接引起胰岛素分泌绝对或者相对不足,出现高血糖状态。糖尿病的发生和发展与炎症反应密切相关,细胞因子的过度生成或调节紊乱损伤胰岛β细胞功能。在这个过程中,白细胞介素1β(IL-1β)通过NF-κB、丝裂原活化蛋白激酶(MAPKs)等通路诱导β细胞凋亡,参与糖尿病的发病和发展。
