Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States, is a historical great man admired by the world. After Lincoln was assassinated in 1865, the United States began preparing for the Lincoln Memorial. For various reasons, the architectural plan designed by architect Bacon was not approved by the National Assembly until 1913 and was completed the following year. It was completed in 1922. The Lincoln Memorial is located at the western end of the main axis of Washington’s political center in the United States. It faces the opposite House of Parliament, with the Washington Monument in the middle. The memorial hall is modeled after an ancient Greek temple and is rectangular in shape. It is surrounded by a colonnade with a 57m long front and a 36m wide side. There are 36 pillars in the colonnade, representing the 36 states of the United States. Column height 13.4m, column bottom diameter 2.26m. The exterior of the memorial hall uses white marble. Inside the main entrance hall is a central hall with 8 pillars, and a seated Lincoln statue carved in white marble.
